Barbed wire

The barbed wire consisted of galvanised iron wire. The 66-hectare (163-acre) prisoner of war camp was secured with a double fence. The inner fence was three metres (3 feet, 10 inches) high, and the outer one was a metre and a half (4 feet, 11 inches) high. A few prisoners nonetheless managed to climb over the fences.
