The ‘CIBA’ lettering visible on the screw cap stands for ‘Chemische Industrie Basel’. The company rose to prominence in the mid-19th century with the manufacture of synthetic pigments. Today, its successor, the Swiss company Novartis, is among the world’s largest manufacturers of pharmaceuticals.
